"Success is achieving small tasks, day after day"

Welcome to Western Middle School--home of the Warriors! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to assist in educating your middle school student. It is our hopes that working together will result in your child being ready to meet the challenges and rigor of high school.

On this journey, middle school students have many hurdles themselves; developing friendships, facing advanced academic rigor, trying to find and cultivate interests, physical growth, etc. These are just a few reasons why the “middle” years are extremely challenging. At Western Middle School, we understand these needs and have programs and opportunities to help meet the diverse needs of students.

Academic rigor is important in the preparation of students. We have advanced courses available and built in daily academic support for students needing additional instruction. Western offers an Explore class to expose children to a variety of skills and ideas. Eighth grade students can take high school classes for high school credit. Many social events are scheduled for students’ social needs. Life-long values are discussed and demonstrated on a daily basis, to complete a well rounded middle school educational experience.

However, this opportunity is a partnership with parents. We encourage parents to become involved in the programs and activities at Western Middle School by getting involved in our school volunteer program, or the parent advisory committee. Information regarding these groups is in the monthly newsletter and discussed at orientation meetings in the fall.

Each year a challenge is issued to students. That challenge is to be the best you can be. The staff at Western Middle School believes all children can learn. Further, we believe students have the right to learn and teachers have the right to teach in a safe and orderly environment.

We encourage all students to believe in themselves. If you believe in yourself, you can excel in academics, music, athletics, drama, or any activity in which you choose to participate. Believe that you can achieve your goals, and you will be successful in life.

Our students are members of an outstanding school, and we expect them to take pride in keeping it that way. Our teachers and staff members are here to provide your student the best education possible. If we all work together, your student will be on their way in becoming a successful, contributing member of our society.

Again, thank you for “lending” us your most cherished possession—your child! We will treat them like they are one of ours!

Sincerely,

Dr. Bill Tithof
